Jennifer Lawrence has given birth to her first child with her husband Cooke Maroney. The family has made the respectable decision to not reveal the baby’s name, birthday or gender. The baby was likely born sometime in February.

This decision to keep her child private likely stems from the quiet recent years the actress has had. Lawrence herself had been taking a break from the Hollywood spotlight to avoid public scrutiny that was constantly hounding her, and from career dissatisfaction after doing several films with poor reception following her 2012 Oscar win for Silver Lining’s Playbook.

She told Vanity Fair last year she was working so much in that time that, “I didn’t have a life, I thought I should go get one.” She also spoke about her desire to keep her baby’s life private in this interview. “Every instinct in my body wants to protect their privacy for the rest of their lives, as much as I can. I don’t want everyone to feel welcome into their existence,” Lawrence said.

Lawrence and Cooke, an art gallery director, met in 2018, soon after she decided to briefly step away from acting. She has largely kept their relationship private but once mentioned sweetly “I really enjoy going to the grocery store with him,” so it must be a blessed marriage if chores are enjoyable for them together.

Lawrence returned to Hollywood with her performance in 2021’s Don’t Look Up as scientist Kate Dibiasky. She is also attached to the upcoming A24 drama film Red, White, And Water as a star and producer. The film is being directed by Lila Neugebauer and stars Lawrence and Atlanta’s Brian Tyree Henry.
