Tennis icon Serena Williams and her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, welcomed their second child together, Adira River Ohanian.

It’s the second daughter for the two, which was confirmed in an Instagram post by Williams. The couple publicly revealed they were expecting a second child at the Met Gala in May.

Williams and Ohanian became engaged in 2016 and welcomed their first child, Alexis Olympia, in September 2017; they tied the knot two months later in November 2017.

The growth of their family comes a year after Williams retired from her tennis career. One of the reasons she decided to step away was for her family.

“I never wanted to have to choose between tennis and a family. I don’t think it’s fair. If I were a guy, I wouldn’t be writing this because I’d be out there playing and winning while my wife was doing the physical labor of expanding our family,” she told CBS, explaining her decision.

Her last tournament appearance was the 2022 U.S. Open, where she lost to Ajla Tomljanović.

Williams previously discussed her near-death experience giving birth to her first daughter.
