The ex-lover of Jada Pinkett-Smith seems to be using this moment of controversy for the Smith family to promote a single and upcoming tell-all book that both references his sexual relationship with the actress that she admitted to having with him in August 2020.

Pinkett-Smith spoke with her husband Will Smith about the relationship with music artist August Alsina, which she notably referred to as an “entanglement,” in an awkward and emotional interview on her show Red Table Talk. Alsina has referenced the relationship, which allegedly occurred while the two superstars were separated, on a track directly called “Entanglements” featuring Rick Ross. This new track, “Shake The World,” had more subtle references to the situation and the potential backlash Alsina received because of it.

This song contains one line that seems to be playing with Pinkett-Smith’s choice of word, which said “When you tangled up with the world’s favorite,” towards the end of the song’s main verse. Earlier in the song, Alsina also refers to career bumps he faced, which could have been related to the affair, and makes a rather lofty comparison. “Industry tried to exile the boy / My momma said we all gotta bear our cross / I had to realize I’m cut from Jesus’ cloth,” Alsina spits on the track.

Even if this affair made him more radioactive in the music industry, Alsina is reportedly preparing to sign a high-figure book deal to discuss his relationship in even more explicit detail. According to a source who spoke to The Sun, Alsina “will go into detail about his time with Jada and will also speak about how he spent time in homes owned by Will when he was away filming.” Alsina has claimed that he had the actor’s permission to sleep with his wife, but the Smith family has denied that.
