Ireland Baldwin, a model and the daughter of actors Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger, spoke about her experiences as both a survivor of rape and someone who got an abortion when she needed it later in life. Baldwin’s statements were clearly inspired by the recent reversal of Roe v. Wade in the Supreme Court last week.

“I don’t feel that it is anybody’s responsibility to talk about this if they don’t feel comfortable,” Baldwin began at the top of the TikTok video. “I’ve seen countless TikToks in the last 24 hours where women are telling other women that it is their responsibility to share their abortion story and I find that to be invasive and wrong.”

Baldwin told viewers, “I was raped when I was a teenager and I was completely unconscious when it happened and it changed. the course of the rest of my life.” She said she didn’t tell anyone, including her parents and then-boyfriend, about the rape for years. Holding the secret “caused a lot of hurt and a lot of pain to me and to people I love.”

She said she “drank a lot more,” while in this state and “was in other abusive and toxic relationships and friendships. I pretty much did everything I could to distract myself.” She added that raising a baby at this time “would’ve simply been traumatizing and impossible.”

The model then touched on her experience getting an abortion years later. She became pregnant with someone she was “very unhappy with,” and said she chose to get an abortion, “because I know exactly what it felt like to be born between two people who hated each other.” This was likely a dig at Ireland’s parents, whom she has roasted in very public settings before.

“I chose me, and i would choose me again. It’s your life, it’s your choice,” Baldwin stated at the end of her video.
