Hasbro Immortalizes ‘Chewbacca Mom’ With Action Figure
Candace Payne, who is better known by her internet moniker Chewbacca Mom, has been immortalized in the form of a Hasbro-designed action figure.
Chewbacca Mom Action Figure
Hasbro invited Payne and her family to their HQ, where Hasbro Chief Executive Officer Brian Goldner presented the famous mother with her very own action figure, reported Entertainment Weekly. From the neck down, the figure looks exactly like other figurine of the beloved Star Wars wookie. However, the head was designed to resemble Payne donning the Chewbacca mask that made her a near-instant internet celebrity. The interactive toy also comes with the ability to play 12 catchphrases.
The figure says, imitating Payne, “That’s not me making that noise, it’s the mask,” and “I am such a happy Chewbacca.” The action figure even plays the sound of Payne’s infectious laugh.
“Thanks SO much, HASBRO. You literally rolled out the red carpet for me and my family,” Payne wrote on Instagram. “Thanks for making play so much fun!”
Payne took to Facebook on May 19 after visiting a Kohl’s near her Grand Prairie, Texas, home, posting a Facebook Live video of herself trying on her new purchase – a Chewbacca mask. The mask inspired by the famous Star Wars wookie, which makes a noise when the wearer moves his or her mouth, made Payne laugh hysterically. The video soon went viral. It’s since amassed more that 150 million views.
