Green Lantern might have won the box office this weekend but it still has been called a 'failure' and 'huge disappointment.' It did bring in $52.7 million opening weekend but that is nothing considering it's $200-300 million budget. This film has had the worst opening for a comic book movie this summer
I agree, I also found the opening weekend gross to be disappointing for a big-budget comic book film, especially given the huge opening weekends for films like The Dark Knight or the X-Men series. I also think that Ryan Reynolds does not exactly fit the superhero mold; I think he's better off doing comedies like Adventureland and Definitely, Maybe. Maybe casting a more popular and action-oriented star would have made The Green Lantern more successful.
