Gene Simmons has once again made it known that he is among those that feel as though hip hop group N.W.A should not have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Gene Simmons On N.W.A.

KISS frontman Simmons has made no secret of his derision for rap music, and has, in fact, openly stated that he looks forward to the day when rap dies off. He has also spoken out about his feelings regarding hip hop artists and groups like RUN-DMC getting inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

During N.W.A.’s acceptance speech for their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Ice Cube maintained that they belonged there.

“The question is: Are we rock and roll? I say you’re [damn] right we’re rock and roll,” the rapper and actor said, adding, “Rock ‘n’ roll is not an instrument. It’s not even a style of music. It’s a spirit that’s been going on since the blues, jazz, bebop, soul, rock ‘n’ roll, R&B, heavy metal, punk rock, and yes, hip-hop. Rock ‘n’ roll is not conforming to the people who came before you, but creating your own path in music and life. That is rock ‘n’ roll and that is us.”

Getting wind of Ice Cube’s comments, Simmons took to Twitter to respond, writing, “Respectfully– let me know when @JimiHendrix gets into the hip hop hall of fame. Then you’ll have a point.”

Ice Cube has yet to respond to Simmons’ latest comments.
