Still, a new documentary directed by Davis Guggenheim, follows the highs and lows of actor and writer Michael J. Fox‘s life and how he deals with Parkinson’s disease.

In an exclusive interview with uInterview at South By Southwest in Austin, Texas, Guggenheim revealed what he learned from Fox while working on the documentary.

“I definitely underestimated Michael,” he said. “I thought he was a handsome, funny guy, I didn’t know how smart he was and I also didn’t know what a great writer he was, so I read his books and then I listened to his books on tape and those recordings from his books on tape become a lot of the narration of the movie. And he just has wisdom to offer me, I don’t have Parkinson’s but I’m feeling a little older, a little more fragile, and so how he approaches life I think is really inspiring to me, so that’s what was really surprising.”

Still will soon be available to stream on Apple TV+.
