Rapper Eminem, aka Marshall Mathers, shared that he uses dating apps to find love, including Tinder and gay dating app Grindr – a rep later claimed the artist was joking.

DOES EMINEM USE DATING APPS TO FIND LOVE?

The 45-year-old has married and divorced his ex Kimberly Scott twice – they were married from 1999-2001 and then again for a brief time in 2006 before divorcing later that year. The pair share a daughter, Hallie, 21, about whom many of the rapper’s lyrics reference.

Eminem hasn’t given up on finding love, but he admits the dating scene hasn’t been working out for him. In an interview with Vulture, he spoke about his experiences. “I mean, yeah. Tinder. And Grindr,” he said of the dating apps he’s been on. “I also used to go to strip clubs. What can I say? Going to strip clubs is how I was meeting some chicks. It was an interesting time for me.”

Now, however, he says he isn’t really interested in dating. “It’s tough. Since my divorce I’ve had a few dates and nothing’s panned out in a way that I wanted to make it public,” he said. “Dating’s just not where I’m at lately.”

A rep for the rapper later followed up with a statement saying that Eminem was joking – “I’m confirming that he was joking about using both Tinder and Grindr.” It would have been surprising if Eminem had been on Grindr, as his lyrics have been interpreted by many to be homophobic and misogynistic in the past. The rapper has denied those accusations as well, and did so again in the Vulture interview: “I’m sure people have misunderstood what I was doing. Again, I’m not a perfect human being and I’m sure that I’ve said things that went a little too hard, but I think my actual life shows — I mean, meeting Elton John and being as good friends with him as I am, that’s not me saying, ‘Hey, I’ve got a gay friend.’ It’s me saying Elton John has my back. He’ll stick up for me,” Eminem said.

When asked if he’s lonely, the rapper says he’s not. In addition to getting sober in the last few years, Eminem also has custody of Hallie’s cousins Alaina and Whitney, as well as his younger half-brother Nathan.
