“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I am forced to reschedule,” John said in a statement posted on his Twitter. “At the end of my summer break I fell awkwardly on a hard surface and have been in considerable pain and discomfort in my hip ever since.”

John went on to say that he will be getting an operation and undergoing physiotherapy so that he can “return to full mobility without pain.”

Despite postponing the tour John still plans to perform at a charity event for Global Citizen on Sept. 25 because he didn’t “want to let a charity down.” He added that performing five songs at the event shouldn’t be a problem for him, compared to the three-hour performances during his tour shows.

The tour is planned to resume in January of 2022 in New Orleans. This is the second time the Farewell to Yellow Brick Road tour was delayed. The show was originally supposed to take place in 2020 but was pushed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Farewell To Yellow Brick Road tour is set to be John’s final time on the road. He promises that he will make sure that the shows “are more than worth the wait.”
