Dua Lipa Clarifies She Is Not Performing At FIFA World Cup In Qatar
Dua Lipa took to Instagram to counter speculation that she would be performing at the FIFA World Cup, which begins next weekend in Qatar. The FIFA organization has been criticized for choosing to host the tournament in the country, which is known for appalling human rights abuses towards migrant workers, including those who were building the football stadiums.
“I will not be performing and nor have I ever been involved in any negotiation to perform … I look forward to visiting Qatar when it has fulfilled all the human rights pledges it made when it won the right to host the World Cup,” she wrote in an Instagram Story post.

She has spoken openly about sexism in the music industry and vocally supported movements like Times Up, the Bernie Sanders 2020 presidential campaign, and a 2020 ballot measure that requested England ban conversion therapy.
Her last full-length album, Future Nostalgia was released in 2020, but Dua Lipa also has a single Sweetest Pie that she did with the hit rapper Megan Thee Stallion which dropped last spring.
