Donald Trump Says He’s Too Busy To Buy Melania A Birthday Gift, Late Night Hosts Go Wild [VIDEO]

First Lady Melania Trump turned 48 on Thursday, however, her husband President Donald Trump was too “busy” to get her a gift.

Trump said in an interview admitted that he did not get anything big for his wife’s birthday. When asked what he did for her special day he said to Fox, “Well, I better not get into that ’cause I may get in trouble. Maybe I didn’t get her so much.”

He did get her “a beautiful card and some beautiful flowers.” Trump says that he is too busy to go out and go shopping for her. “You know, I’m very busy to be running out looking for presents, Ok?” he said.

Following his interview, many late night hosts used it to poke fun at the president. James Corden on The Late Late Show asked, “This is the question he doesn’t lie about?”

Jimmy Kimmel pointed out, “He said he’s too busy to buy her a present. Keep this in mind, he said this during a 30-minute long rambling call to Fox and Friends.”

Kimmel noted that this should have been the year that Trump buys Melania a gift, following the Stormy Daniels controversy. “If you can spend $130,000 on a porn star, you can at least spring for a necklace.”

The Late Show‘s Stephen Colbert joked that he acquired a copy of the card Trump gave Melania, and it was a card that said “Merry Christmas” with the “Christmas” crossed out and “Birthday” written in its place. It also had a Gamestop gift card on the inside.
