Dakota Johnson, the Fifty Shades of Grey star, has broken up with her longtime boyfriend, musician Matthew Hitt.

Johnson and Hitt reportedly parted ways sometime around the holiday season, a couple of months before Johnson’s much-anticipated turn as Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie. “Sometime over the holidays, they broke up,” an insider told Us Weekly. “Her life was getting too crazy and it wasn’t something that he wanted to be a part of.”

“It wasn’t a bad break,” the source added, revealing that Johnson is casually seeing a few people since splitting from the Drowners’ lead vocalist and sometime-model.

Johnson has exploded into superstardom with her turn in the movie adaptation of the first book in British author E.L. James’ trilogy of erotic romance novels. The film, helmed by Nowhere Boy director Sam Taylor-Johnson, has made a killing at the box office, raking in nearly $100 million in its opening week and topping the charts.

Johnson, the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, has three more features coming out later this year – Chloe and Theo, Black Mass and A Bigger Splash.

Fifty Shades of Grey is currently in theaters nationwide.
