Comedian Roseanne Barr was attacked on social media for ranting about Democratic donors at a GOP Senate candidate Kari Lake’s Arizona campaign fundraiser.

Barr’s rant took place at Mar-a-Lago, former President Donald Trump’s property in Florida, where she served as a “special guest comedian” for the event.

Barr released a statement ahead of the event.

“On my way to Mar-a-Lago to help support the great @KariLake,” she wrote on X. “We must try to vote our way out of this for at least one last year…. and then if that doesn’t work #1776.”

The reference to 1776 caused some critics to claim that she was inciting violence.

A video of her at the event made it to X, showing her telling American college students that they should drop out.

“How’re you doing?” the comedian said while slurring her words and holding a glass of white wine in her hands. “I’m here at Mar-a-Lago, supporting Kari Lake, and it was a fantastic evening. Our Trump is here, being the DJ, and I’ve just danced, and everyone’s amazed.”

“So I’m just going to say to you, please drop out of college because it’s going to ruin your lives,” she added. “Do me a favor, drop out; they don’t teach you nothing good, uh, email me or Twitter me or whatever you call me, and I’ll help you with your life, but you got to get out of college because it isn’t nothing but a bunch of devil-worshipping, baby blood-drinking, Democrat donors. Love ya”

These remarks drew criticism and raised concerns regarding the impact of such rhetoric on college students.

One social media user shared this video comparing her to “the drunk aunt at family gatherings that make everyone uncomfortable.”

“Please, everyone, ignore the drunk washed-up comedian in the corner of the room,” another user wrote. “She has nothing left in this world but to make everyone’s lives as miserable as hers. Say no to drugs, kids.”

Despite the controversy surrounding Barr’s statements, the fundraiser proved to be a success for Lake.

Lake’s campaign announced that it raised $1 million at the fundraiser in one day, marking an important milestone in her campaign.

It was the most collected at Mar-a-Lago for a non-incumbent Senate candidate.

On the night of November 8, Barr addressed the crowd at Trump’s rally in Hialeah, Florida, with another foul-mouthed rant.

She recalled her failure to run for president in 2012 against former President Barack Obama.

Barr then showed a custom-made jacket that read “MAGADOR-IN-CHIEF” and a graphic of Trump wrangling a bull.

The crowd began chanting, “Aren’t we all fed up with the deep-state bull—?”

In December 2023, the comedian made controversial statements while appearing at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest in Arizona.

At this event, which the conservative group described as celebrating constitutional rights and freedoms, Barr took the stage and shared her support for Trump.

As her speech continued, the crowd’s enthusiasm decreased, and they became quieter. She asked for the truth, expressed frustration with the Democratic and Republican parties and accused them of being corrupt and deceitful.

The video of Barr’s speech, shared on social media, received significant attention and inspired widespread backlash.
