In A Wheelchair, Michael J. Fox Jams With Coldplay On Glastonbury Stage Amid Parkinson’s Battle

In a surprise appearance that thrilled fans, actor Michael J. Fox joined British rock band Coldplay on stage during their headlining set at the Glastonbury Festival on Saturday night.

Fox, best known for his role in the Back to the Future film trilogy, was introduced by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin as, “another legendary Michael,” following the introduction of festival founder Sir Michael Eavis. Martin praised Fox’s guitar skills and iconic portrayal of Marty McFly, eliciting cheers from the crowd.

The 62-year-old actor, who has been battling Parkinson’s disease for decades, was brought out in a wheelchair. He joined the band in a performance of their 2005 hit “Fix You,” strumming along as Martin knelt beside him.

Following the performance, Martin expressed gratitude to Fox, calling him “our hero forever” and “one of the most amazing people on earth.” The singer also revealed that watching Back to the Future was a primary inspiration for the formation of Coldplay.

This isn’t the first time Fox has shared the stage with the band. In 2016, he made a guest appearance at their MetLife Stadium concert in New Jersey, where they performed “Johnny B. Goode,” a Chuck Berry song featured prominently in Back to the Future.

Fox later took to Instagram to share his excitement about the Glastonbury experience. “Oh yeah in case you were wondering… it was f—ing mind blowing,” he wrote, praising Coldplay and adding, “There is a time for every band and a band for every time. This is @coldplay’s time.”

The actor also thanked his team and the Coldplay crew for their support during the event. Coldplay reciprocated the sentiment on their official Instagram account, writing, “Thank you, Michael J. Fox, for making our dream come true.”

Fox’s appearance at Glastonbury comes amidst Coldplay’s record-breaking set at the renowned music festival. The surprise collaboration served as a highlight of the evening, demonstrating the enduring impact of Fox’s career and the mutual admiration between the actor and the band.
