Charges Against Christian LaBella, Lindsay Lohan's Alleged Assailant, Dropped

Lindsay Lohan has been featured in plenty of bizarre headlines, but this one may top them all. The strange incident goes as follows: This past Saturday, Lohan, 26, invited Republican congressional aide Christian LaBella and his friends back to her W Hotel room in New York at around 4 am, after partying at the trendy club 1Oak. Once there, Lohan found photos of her on LaBella's phone, at which point she confronted him and, according to the Liz and Dick star, was assaulted by LaBella, who according to Lohan allegedly threw her to the ground, choked her and attempted to flee. “We think it’s both distressing and outrageous,” said Lohan's publicist Steve Honig said in a statement. “Lindsay was assaulted and there needs to be a consequence for that.”

Despite having accusations of assault and harassment levied against him, LaBella was eventually released and the charges against him dropped, citing insufficient evidence. LaBella likewise filed a complaint against Lohan, but no charges have yet been initiated. “Cross-complaints for harassment were filed, and LaBella's assault arrest was voided after detectives investigated further,” New York Police Department Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne said. Lohan, who is on informal probation for a 2011 robbery charge and has just ended a five-year probation for driving under the influence, which included jail time, had another run-in with the law recently when she was arrested for side-swiping a pedestrian in a borrowed Porsche. But prosecutors say her probation will not likely be affected by this incident, as security video from the hotel shows that Lohan did not touch or much less assault the alleged victim. Lohan may do well to heed the advice of Judge Stephanie Sautner, who offered her sound parting words in court at the end of her DUI probation in March. "You need to live your life in a more mature way," Sautner said, albeit in a warm and supportive tone. "Stop the nightclubbing and focus on your work. I don't expect to see you again."
