Cassie Settles Sexual Assault Lawsuit With Ex Diddy Just Two Days After Filing It

After singer-songwriter Cassie filed a lawsuit against Bad Boy Records founder Sean “Diddy” Combs, which alleged rape, physical abuse and years of controlling behavior, a resolution has been reached between the two parties. 

Just one day after the lawsuit was filed, both Combs and Cassie, whose real name is Cassandra Ventura, announced on Friday evening that they had reached an agreement to settle the suit. However, the specific details of the settlement have not been disclosed by either party.

In a statement, Ventura said, “I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control… I want to thank my family, fans and lawyers for their unwavering support.”

Combs said in his own statement, “We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best. Love.”

Combs’ attorney, Ben Brafman, issued a statement on Saturday afternoon, which stated, “Mr. Combs’ decision to settle the lawsuit does not in any way undermine his flat-out denial of the claims. He is happy they got to a mutual settlement and wishes Ms. Ventura the best.”

Ventura’s attorney, Douglas Wigdor, said in a statement, “I am very proud of Ms. Ventura for having the strength to go public with her lawsuit. She ought to be commended for doing so.”

On Thursday, Ventura filed a lawsuit in Federal District Court in Manhattan, which alleged that over her ten-year on-and-off relationship with Combs, he subjected her to extreme mistreatment and assault.

Ventura alleged that in 2018, she attempted to end the relationship and leave Combs when he raped her in her own home. Furthermore, she asserted that he repeatedly abused her, coerced her into sexual acts with male sex workers and exerted control over her personal life, with threats to harm her professional career if she defied him.

Ventura said in a statement that she sought legal action against Combs because she was ready to “speak up on behalf of myself and for the benefit of other women who face violence and abuse in their relationships.”

Brafman had originally responded to the allegations that Combs “vehemently” denied Ventura’s “offensive and outrageous allegations.”
