Bruce Willis’ wife, Emma Heming Willis, spoke out about her 68-year-old husband’s struggle with dementia.

Heming Willis appeared on Today to discuss her partner’s condition, which he was diagnosed with in 2022. She called it a “family disease” because of its impact on her life and their children’s lives.

“It was important we let them know what it is because I don’t want there to be any stigma or shame attached to their dad’s diagnosis or any form of dementia,” Heming Willis said. “I think it was the blessing and the curse, to finally understand what was happening so that I could be into the acceptance of what it is.”

When asked if Willis is aware of his dementia, Heming Willis said, “It’s hard to know.”

Willis stopped acting last year following his diagnosis. His family has remained diligent in giving fans updates on the actor since he stepped out of the spotlight.

Heming Willis recently asked photographers not to use their flashes around the actor since it can lead to disorientation for people with dementia.
