2016 Country Music Awards: 17 Best-Dressed Musicians
The 50th annual Country Music Awards were held on Wednesday night. From Carrie Underwood to Taylor Swift, the stars of the country music world and celebrities alike traveled to Nashville to honor the best of country music. Several stars made surprise appearances, including Beyoncé.

The red carpet arrivals were full of eye-catching fashion, some of which pulled on inspiration from the night’s event. Singer-songwriter Elle King donned red and black fringe-covered pants and a top to commemorate the event, while country power couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill kept it classic in black, McGraw pairing a cowboy hat with his tuxedo. Hill wore a structural gown with a shimmery top.
Other stars opted for a lighter, pink look. Country music icon Carrie Underwood donned a shimmering rose-gold gown, which she later changed out of while performing “I will Always Love You” as a tribute to Dolly Parton, who received the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award. Stars far from country music also followed the pink trend. Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman wore a sheer pink dress, revealing a matching one-piece underneath. Raisman was in the company of fellow gymnasts Gabby Douglas and Simone Biles. Overwhelmingly, the trend was towards darker, monochromatic colors. Martina McBride wore a black that was seemingly painted in shimmering silver, and Jennifer Nettles opted for a classic black gown with a plunging, lacy neckline.
To close out the show, the most revealing and attention-grabbing outfit of the night went to Taylor Swift, a perennial CMAs favorite. Taking the stage to announce the winner of Best Country Music Artist of The Year—which went to Garth Brooks—Swift stunned in a black form-fitting dress consisting entirely of strategically-placed patterns.
