The Bachelorette and its contestant Lee Garrett are in hot water after fans uncovered some alleged old racist and sexist tweets that Garrett had posted.

BACHELORETTE CONTESTANT LEE GARRETT TWEETS

ABC was initially praised for showcasing the first-ever black lead in The Bachelor franchise, but now a racist, sexist contestant is hurting the show’s reputation. Garrett’s Twitter account was leaked on social media today and some of the tweets are offensive. “What’s the difference between the NAACP and the KKK? Wait for it…One has the sense of shame to cover their racist a-s faces,” he wrote.

Garrett is a 30-year-old singer/songwriter from Nashville who is vying for bachelorette Rachel Lindsay‘s love. His Twitter profile is private, but in his public bio describes himself as “pleasantly offensive.” A few screenshots of his tweets have been outed, and they are downright offensive. Garrett takes shots at Islam, the Democratic party and liberals, the Black Lives Matter movement, and women.

“Guys… When is the last time YOU actually saw a pretty feminist? There is a reason for this?” is one example of a sexist tweet, in addition to declaring himself a “meninist.” He also tweeted out a video with the caption that this, “Newly released video DESTROYS liberal narrative on Alton Sterling shooting.”

“I wholeheartedly support inhuman torture of terrorists,” and “This out… The Orlando terrorist was a devout muslim and a registered democrat” are two more off color tweets. He also forwarded a petition to classify Black Lives Matter as a terrorist group.

Neither ABC nor Lindsay nor Garrett have commented on the situation.
