Comedian Artie Lange was arrested recently on drug possession charges.

The arrest was made outside Lange’s home in New Jersey. Police spokesman Sgt. Edgardo Cruz tells to NJ Advance Media that 49-year-old Lange was arrested on Sunday after allegedly being found with drugs in the parking garage of his building.

Officers found cocaine, heroin and drug paraphernalia both on him and in his car. He has a history of using drugs in the past.

Lange was most recently on HBO’s new comedy series Crashing, which stars Peter Holmes and is produced Judd Apatow. He plays himself as a mentor to Holmes’ character who is trying to make it as a stand-up comedian.

Apatow responded by expressing support for Lange, writing Friday on Twitter, “We would never give up on Artie or anyone struggling with addiction.”

“Hey guys. I was arrested. I’m doing great. Physically too!,” Lange wrote on Twitter after the arrest. “To u worried fans pls know I love u. Also know I’ve never wanted to live more! If HBO has to let me go Its my bad! Judd, Pete & u. Thx!”, he added.
