Anthony Bourdain committed suicide just under a month ago. In a tweet, cookbook author Paula Forbes announced that his biography will be published by Ecco Books in the fall of 2019.
Laurie Woolever, Bourdain’s assistant and co-writer of his last book Appetites, is set to edit the biography. It will be titled Bourdain: The Oral Biography.
Woolever confirmed working on the biography to Eater:
“I’m honored to now be working with his estate, and talking to the people who knew him best, in order to share the story of a life that influenced so many people, in so many ways, all across the globe,” Woolever said.
According to Daniel Halpern at Ecco, “this book is meant to be a celebration of an extraordinary man, as remembered by many people around the world who knew him along the way of his all too brief journey.”
He was first found unresponsive in his hotel room in France by a receptionist and his close friend Eric Ripert. Bourdain is survived by his ex-wife Ottavia Busia, girlfriend Asia Argento and 11-year-old daughter Ariane Bourdain.
On June 15, the Parts Unknown host’s body was cremated in France. There’s yet to be news of an official funeral for the chef.
