Another World star Robyn Griggs has passed away from cancer at 49-years-old.

Her friend announced Griggs’ passing in a statement on Facebook. “With a heavy heart, I am saddened to announce Robyn’s passing,” she wrote. “However, she is no longer suffering and would want us to remember that and the good memories.”

Griggs’ friend continued, “I will never forget how open she was to telling her story and accepting of me helping her tell it. She wanted to help people and spread the word of her story to do it. I was honored to do so. RIP my friend, I love you and smile when I think of you.”

On August 21, 2020, Griggs shared on Facebook that when she went to the hospital for a pap smear, she learned that she had stage four endocervical adencarcinoma. Following her announcement, the actress kept fans regularly updated about her health on Facebook. She shared last month, “I have 4 new tumors. 2 new tumors on my liver, one on my abdominal muscle and large one right on my side lymph node.”

She added, “So in pain and I got chemo Monday am. I told them whatever it takes. I’m in for the fight… Please keep those prayers coming. Hugs to all!!!”

A few days before Griggs died, her father shared on Facebook that she was going to be placed in hospice care. “She has fought with determination, strength and grace that is nothing short of inspirational,” he wrote.

The actress was best known for her portrayals of Stephanie Hobart on One Life to Live from 1991-1992, and Maggie Cory on Another World from 1993-1995. Griggs also appeared in horror films like Hellweek and Zombiegeddon. She got her start on Nickelodeon’s Rated K, which ran from 1986-1988.

Griggs is survived by her husband Mark Wiley. No memorial plans have been announced yet.
