Alyssa Milano Shows Support To Christine Blasey Ford At Brett Kavanaugh Hearing

On Thursday, actress Alyssa Milano showed her support to Dr. Christine Blasey Ford as Ford faced questioning from the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee after accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault.

Milano traveled from Los Angeles to Washington D.C. to witness the historic hearing.

“I felt like I needed to be here to show my solidarity for Dr. Ford,” Milano said from the hearing room. “On this day that will be very difficult for her.”

The actress was seen sitting in the middle of the hearing room and was said to be a guest of Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.).

For almost a year, Milano has been an outspoken activist for the #MeToo movement. She was also among the first to share her #MeToo story on Twitter which inspired hundreds of women to also come forward.

During the hearing, as Ford answered questions about Kavanaugh and Mark Judge, who Ford also accused of the sexual assault, Milano was spotted across the room in tears.

Both Kavanaugh and Judge have denied assaulting Ford.

After Kavanaugh’s testimony, Milano took to Twitter to share the double standard between men and women that she saw during the hearing.

At the hearing, Milano also recalled watching Anita Hill’s hearing when she was almost 20-years-old. “I remember thinking what a strong, amazing, solid woman she was to come forward,” Milano told ABC News. “What a service she was doing for all women.”

The Hill hearing from over two decades ago concluded with Thomas being confirmed onto the Supreme Court. “We are in a different time. Women are standing together now in solidarity,” Milano said.
