Hillary Clinton Makes Surprise Appearance On Premiere Of ‘Murphy Brown’

On Thursday night, Murphy Brown returned to TV and Hillary Clinton appeared on the episode in a surprising role that had not been announced before it aired. 

In the episode, the former presidential candidate played a woman named Hilary, who was interviewing for a secretary position at Murphy Brown’s new cable news show. During the show, when told about her resemblance, Clinton’s character said, “I get that a lot.”

Her character then continued, “Your reputation proceeds you, but I want you to know I’m not afraid of hard work, I’m qualified and ready on day one.”

Throughout her part in the show, Clinton made jokes that paralleled with her experience of running for the presidential office and being secretary of state, at one point saying, “I do have some experience with emails.”

Brown (Candice Bergen) then concludes the interview by telling Hilary that although she is “impressive,” she may be a “little over-qualified.” Brown then takes down Hilary’s email, Hilary@youcouldhavehadme.com.

The episode focused on Brown getting back together with her team for the new show that focuses on making sense of current events. The premiere also didn’t skip over the chance to reference President Donald Trump, in fact during the episode Brown gets into a Twitter battle with Trump. 

Clinton is expected to be seen another CBS scripted series, along with former secretaries of state Madeleine Albright and Colin Powell who will make guest appearances on the upcoming season premiere of Madam Secretary.

The fifth season of Madam Secretary will air on Oct. 7. 

Clinton’s appearance on Murphy Brown received many strong reactions from its viewers due to Brett Kavanaugh’s hearing that took place the same day which included many emotional testimonies from Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford, who accused him of sexual assault.
