All My Children star Alec Musser was discovered dead by his fiancée, Paige Press, on January 13.

On Tuesday, the Medical Examiner’s Office of San Diego County revealed that the 50-year-old’s cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.

Press told investigators that she found him on the floor of their bathroom Saturday morning, lying next to a gun. She called 911, but responders were unable to resuscitate him when they arrived, later pronouncing him dead.

His fiancee noted that his recent Covid-19 diagnosis shortly before his death could have affected his well-being at the time.

“He was a very healthy person,” Press said. “I mean, he took exceptional care of his body and what went into it.… He’d eat some cookies and that was the worst thing I ever saw him do.”

Her heartfelt post on social media left fans shocked. She shared a series of pictures of the two, including the couple smiling on the red carpet, having fun ice skating and pictures from his early modeling career.

“Today is the worst day of my life,” she wrote. “We were so happy. You were the best fiancé I could have ever asked for. I will never stop loving you. My heart is broken.”

Adam Sandler, who worked with Musser on the Grown Ups set, shared on social media, “I loved this guy. Cannot believe he is gone. Such a wonderful, funny good man. Thinking of Alec Musser and his family and sending all my love. A true great sweetheart of a person.”
