Fans of Game Of Thrones are furious with Alfie Allen for revealing the fate of one of the show’s most beloved characters just hours before the episode was shown.

On Sunday, the 32-year-old actor took to Instagram before the third episode of the eighth season aired to share a photo of his character’s armour, captioning it with a broken heart.

Fans immediately knew this was in reference to his character Theon Greyjoy being killed off during the battle of Winterfell. And while some had already watched the episode and knew the fate of Theon of which his character finally got the redemption he wanted after betraying the Starks, many also hadn’t watched the episode and were devastated to see a crucial spoiler mere hours before the episode was aired in the U.S.

“SPOILER!” one user wrote, while another asked, “You couldn’t wait 24 hours?”

Allen isn’t the first Game of Thrones star to be slammed by fans after sharing a spoiler, Sophie Turner who plays Sansa Stark, also received backlash after she gave away Theon’s fate before the showing of the episode.

In Sunday night’s drama-filled episode, Theon’s death during the epic battle against the Night King was the most painful to viewers. As during the episode just before the Night King stabbed him in the stomach and killed him, he was protecting Bran from the wights as they attempted to lure out the Night King. With Bran eventually, telling Theon that he is a “good man” and Theon finally accepting that he’d been forgiven by his former family. Finally, he was able to die as an honorable soldier, brother, and friend who fought and died for the family he had wronged.

Game of Thrones airs Sunday at 8 p.m. EST on HBO.
