The 2021 American Music Awards were held in Los Angeles on Sunday night, hosted by Cardi B, featuring performances from this year’s biggest names in music.

The show included performances from BTS and Coldplay, Olivia Rodrigo, Bad Bunny, Måneskin, Walker Hayes, Carrie Underwood with Jason Aldean, New Edition and New Kids On The Block.

Rodrigo, the 18-year-old breakout star, led the pack with seven nominations, while The Weeknd came out with six. Doja Cat, Bad Bunny and Giveon were tied with five noms each.

Winners are voted on by fans, so it’s no surprise that BTS’ dedicated “ARMY” brought home Artist of The Year for their favorite band. The K-pop group also took home awards for Favorite Pop Duo or Group and Favorite Pop Song for their hit “Butter.”

Rodrigo took home New Artist of The Year and The Weeknd won for Favorite Male R&B artist. Doja Cat won three awards: Collaboration of the Year for “Kiss Me More” with SZA, Favorite R&B Artist and Favorite R&B Album. Bad Bunny won Favorite Male Latin Artist and Favorite Latin Album for El Último Tour Del Mundo.

Although Taylor Swift could not make it to the show in person, she appeared via video message to thank fans for her win for Favorite Pop Album, evermore. Meghan Thee Stallion also did not appear at the awards show after an “unexpected person matter,” canceling her planned duet with BTS. She still took home three awards including Favorite Trending Song for “Body,” Favorite Female Hip-Hop artist and Favorite Hip-Hop Album with Good News.
