Outside Lands Canceled For 2020, But Will Be Back For 2021 With Headliners Lizzo, Tame Impala & The Strokes

One of the biggest music festivals in the country Outside Lands has been canceled for 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, but announced that the multistage concert will be back for 2021 and headline Lizzo, Tame Impala and the Strokes. According to a press release from June 24, Outside Lands will “not proceed with the originally scheduled 2020 edition.”

The event is put on by Anthony Planet Entertainment, Superfly and Star Hill, and is held at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. It will also feature the return of Grass Lands, an experience that allows festival goers to purchase a large array of cannabis products. This is event is the first of its kind at a major music festivals. 

The head of concerts & festivals at Another Planet Entertainment and co-producer of Outside Lands Allen Scott said, “We are thrilled for the festival to be coming back in 2021. There’s been a lot of bad news out there with regard to COVID-19, and we want to give people something to look forward to. We’re hopeful that in sharing our excitement about the future of the festival and next year’s lineup, that it provides some much-needed positivity for our fans and community.”

Rick Farman, the Superfly co-founder and festival co-producer also stated, “Outside Lands was created to celebrate the Bay Area creative community and the small businesses that are the fabric of San Francisco’s culture. Given everything that our community is going through, we will continue that mission with a renewed focus as we plan for the 2021 event.”

The Outside Lands Twitter posted, “We are looking to the future & filled with excitement to announce NEXT year’s festival, returning August 6-8, 2021. Tickets on sale TOMORROW. We believe it is in the best interest of everyone’s health & safety that we not return in 2020,” along with the 2021 line up.


Three day general admission, VIP, payment plan and Golden Gate Club passes go on sale on June 25.
