VIDEO EXCLUSIVE: Sprung’s James Earl Wonders Why ‘People Don’t Admit They Fart Anymore’
Sprung, a quirky comedy, follows formerly incarcerated Jack who is determined to make up for his lost years by using his powers for good as he enters back into the world at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Phillip Garcia, who plays Rooster, Clare Gillies, who plays Wiggles and James Earl, who plays Melvin, recently sat for a conversation with uInterview founder Erik Meers where they discussed their favorite moments this season.
“A good [show creator] Greg Garcia comedy always has some good fart jokes,” Garcia said. “There are definitely a few Rooster fart jokes and they happen in moments where you’re not really expecting it and they kind of come out of nowhere. That’s kind of what a fart does!”
“People act like they don’t fart no more! You still fart, people!” Earl cut in jokingly.
“I just farted right now!” Garcia quipped.
“Rooster and I have a scene that I love so much,” Gillies said, returning to the topic of conversation. “Wiggles is lifting him up and she keeps making these little, pretty stupid statements to him to make him feel good – like things that he’s taught her over the years. I remember reading it and memorizing it and it’s just hilarious. I just love those scenes so much.”
“Yeah, I really like the scenes were I get to get in Jack’s [Garret Dillahunt] face because he’s really a germaphobe in real life,” Earl laughed. “I think me getting in his face and pressing all those Covid boundaries at every opportunity – even when Melvin and Wiggles go take the Covid tests, my way of giving everyone a Covid test is just make out! That’s the Covid test, sir! Are you married? You got a wife? You got a girlfriend? A lady? A lover? Only one of you need to test! Both of y’all don’t need to test! You got it, she got it.”
Sprung is streaming on Amazon Freevee now.
