Westworld Trailer Released

“Welcome to Westworld. No orientation. No guide book. All our guests are here for you,” a woman says to William (Jimmi Simpson) in the trailer, introducing him to the theme park inhabited by robots that can die and be recreated as new AI creations with altered personalities. “In this world, you can be whoever you want,” Maeve Millay (Thandie Newton) tells cowboy Teddy Flood (James Marsden).

Questions of reality are dismissed in the trailer, as Evan Rachel Wood‘s robot character Dolores Abernathy seems to be showing signs of breaking free of the the control of her creator. “These violent delights have violent ends,” she warns.

Westworld is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin,” reads HBO’s new description of the series. “Set at the intersection of the near future and the reimagined past, it explores a world in which every human appetite, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged.”

HBO released a statement back in January to announced a second delay with the series, which was originally slated to premiere in 2015. Westworld now has an October 2016 premiere date.
