White House Comments On Obama's Tan Suit
President Barack Obama wore a tan suit during his press conference Thursday that sparked a firestorm of snark on social media, which the White House decided to address Friday.
White House On Obama's Tan Suit
White House press secretary Josh Earnest took to the podium Friday and decided not to dodge questions about Obama’s now infamous tan suit.
“I know that there is one aspect of the president’s news conference yesterday that attracted some attention,” Earnest said.
“So I thought I might go over at least on aspect of that argument and it’s specifically this: The president stands squarely behind the decision that he made yesterday to wear his summer suit at yesterday’s news conference. It’s the Thursday before Labor Day,” the press secretary explained, adding, “He feels pretty good about it.”
Obama’s decision to wear a tan suit directly contradicted an interview he gave to Vanity Fair two years ago in which he said, “You’ll see I wear only gray or blue suits,” while explaining his need to limit the more trivial decision making in his days.
Following his press conference on Thursday, many Twitter users were left hoping that the president wouldn’t have changed his position on the suit issue.
