Shirtless Tim Tebow Gives His 'Heart And Soul' To The New York Jets
Controversial New York Jets quarterback and the inadvertent father of the "Tebowing" meme, Tim Tebow, 25, whose love of football only seems outshined by his devotion to his Christian faith, is celebrating his August 14 birthday and the upcoming football season with a shirtless black-and-white magazine spread, in which he appears in Christ-like pose, arms outstretched and head tilted downward and to the side.
"I'll do whatever I can to help this team win football games," Tebow, who formerly played for the Denver Broncos, told the skeptical reporter in the cover story to the latest issue of GQ, entitled, "Brothers, Have You Accepted Tim Tebow As Your Sunday Savior?"
"I'll give my heart and soul whenever I step on that field and even when I'm on the sidelines," Tebow said. "At the end of the day, that's really all you can ask of someone."
And, at the end of the day, even the skeptical reporter was convinced. "The charisma is real, folks," Devin Gordon writes about the figurehead of Tebowmania. "It almost startles you, especially if you're the kind of person who is skeptical about airy notions like charisma. It's there …. He is clearly enjoying himself. He likes the attention, and not in a craven, needy way. More like: I'm a people person!"
So what does the shirtless Tebow have to say to doubters? Well, like any good Christian boy, he chooses to focus on the positive. "I think if they're a Jets fan, hopefully they'll be rooting for me," said Tebow.
The issue of GQ with the Tebow cover story hits news stands on August 21. Tebow hits the football field on August 18 in a pre-season game against the New York Giants. On Sunday, September 9, Tebow and the Jets face the Buffalo Bills in their first game of the season.
