Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. returned on Tuesday night after a month-long hiatus with an episode entitled “T.A.H.I.T.I.” that picked up with Skye getting rushed to treatment after suffering two shots to the chest.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Recap

All of the members of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team are racking their brains for what they could have done differently that would’ve prevented Skye’s (Chloe Bennet) possibly fatal wound. They’re all overwhelmed by guilt and trying to delay succumbing to full-on grief. In a moment of brutal pragmatism, Ward (Brett Dalton) asks May (Ming-Na Wen) if they might be expending too many resources to fly Skye all the way to the nearest S.H.I.E.L.D. facility when it’s more than likely that she’s not going to make it.

When Agent Garrett (Bill Paxton) and Agent Triplett (B.J. Britt) arrive, they reveal that they might have details about Quinn (David Conrad) – the man who shot Skye – that could help uncover how best to save her. While interrogating Quinn, they come up with next to nothing. Having better luck across the plane are Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge). They hypothesize that Skye could get a second chance at life the same way that Coulson (Clark Gregg) did – through a special drug cocktail called GH-325.

Fitz & Simmons Search For GH-325

In order to uncover the details of GH-325, Fitz and Simmons set about cracking into the secrets of the Admin Cube. At one point, it seems as though the brainy duo can’t get further in their cause, but after applying the WWSD (What Would Skye Do?) mentality, Fitz gets through and learns the drug is held in an underground bunker.

Once down in the bunker, a pair of fellow agents delays the S.H.I.E.L.D. team. Taking them down with a couple of shots, the team keeps going and ultimately finds the drug. As the team gives Skye the drug, Coulson finds himself in the room marked T.A.H.I.T.I and is alarmed at what he sees – so much so that he tries in vain to stop the rest from giving Skye the drug.

What's T.A.H.I.T.I.?

Though the drug rehabilitates Skye’s heart rate, Coulson is disturbed to now know how the drug came to be. In the T.A.H.I.T.I. room he found out that a blue-colored man inside of a tube is its source. Who is the blue man and how he came to be there has yet to be determined.

As “T.A.H.I.T.I” came to a close, an Asgardian descended to Earth to recruit a man to help her exit Death Valley. Next week, Thor’s Sif (Jaimie Alexander) will be making his first appearance.

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Tuesdays on ABC at 8/7c.
