Actor Ryan Corr reflected on his “magical” experience on the HBO series House of the Dragon in his new uInterview.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, House of the Dragon is set almost 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. It tells the story of the Targaryen civil war when King Viserys I Targaryen’s children battled for control of the Iron Throne. The show stars celebrities like Milly Alcock, Matt Smith and Olivia Cooke.

When asked what stood out to him while on set, Corr explained to uInterview founder Erik Meers, “You’re really just stepping onto a platform with just some of the most incredible people. You don’t really have to suspend your disblief when it’s like that, you’re literally working into operational castles with fire and things like that.”

Corr shared a moment of awe for central actor Smith in one of the scenes.

“One story I will tell that I just admired, I guess, we were doing a giant wedding scene, and [Smith] had to walk in late to the wedding and sort of interrupt proceedings, and there was a knight at the door who would announce everyone who came into the wedding,” he said. “This is a room full of hundreds of people and hundreds of extras, and everyone’s in garb, and we’re watching the scene, and [Smith] walks in, and the knight who is announcing names, of course, doesn’t announce his, and I just remember Matt Smith stopping for a second and turning around, [he said], ‘Go on then…. Say my name!’ Then he walked in and walked through down to the other end of the table.”

Corr laughed, “And I just remember that being like, I was like, that’s why you’re Matt Smith.”

Corr expressed his pleasure at working on the show as his final takeaway from the film. “Sometimes you find yourself in worlds,” he said. “You just have to sort of take it and try and enjoy the moment and enjoy where you are because they don’t happen often, and it’s sort of like a dream sometimes.”

House of the Dragon premiered on August 21, 2022. The second season will be released on June 16.
