Jaqueline Bisset, the iconic British actress and star of the new drama Loren & Rose, discussed her experiences while making the film in an exclusive uInterview.

Loren & Rose follows the heartbreaking relationship of a young filmmaker, played by Kelly Blatz, and a famed actress, played by Bisset. When asked what drew her to the project, Bisset said that she immediately fell in love with her character.

“I found the role because of my friendship with a young filmmaker named Christopher Munch, with whom I did a movie called The Sleepy Time Gal and who was friends with Russell Brown, who directed Loren & Rose,” she explained.

“I wanted to play [Rose]. I wanted the uneven parts. I wanted the faults of this person… I was very excited to play this woman and I felt sorry for her. She had some rough times and I can really relate to some of it, not all of it,” she added.

Many of the scenes with Bisset and Kelly were extremely intimate and intense. Bisset said that working with Kelly made them feel easier.

“Kelly Beltz was just a wonderful co-star,” she said. “I liked him from the moment I saw him… I just had a very strong sense of him as a very sensitive person and a very caring person… He is a very good listener, very attentive. It’s very feeding when somebody listens fully to what you’re saying, getting it and getting you. It helped me a lot.”

Bisset recalled many elements of Loren & Rose that really resonated with her on a personal level. When asked what she hopes viewers take away from the film, she said that she just wants them to “feel something.”

“I think it’s terribly moving what happens at the end. And it’s done,” she said. “It’s not sentimental. It’s not modeling. It’s brave. She’s not being a drudge about her illness… She’s had [Loren] in her arms for six years. She hands him back to the world in a way.”
