Magazine Dreams follows the story of bodybuilder Killian Maddox (Jonathan Majors) who is looking for human connection but is not willing to give up his obsession with fame. Haley Bennett plays Jessie, Killian’s love interest.

In an exclusive interview with uInterview founder Erik Meers on the Sundance Film Festival premiere in Park City, Utah, Bennett discussed the message of the film.

“Masculine toxicity is encapsulated in this, the American dream, and what it means to like get ahead and what it means to be on top and what it means to be a man,” she said. “At the end of the day I think this is a universal story about connection and it’s a poem to the underdog and it’s a thought-provoking drama about the importance of kindness and tenderness and love and like everyone needs a little bit of connection. Like we need to connect, we need to be kind to each other before it’s too late, there are consequences.”
