Julia Sweeny voices the character Ms. Squibbles in the animated comedy Monsters University, the follow up to Monsters Inc. (2011). In the film set 10 years before its predecessor, Mike and Sulley help each other master the techniques of scaring while enrolled at Monsters University.
Sweeny, a cast member on Saturday Night Live in the early 90s, didn’t need any inspiration for voicing her character. “I came up with it by using my own voice. Well, it’s funny because I’ve always—even when I was on Saturday Night Live I always did a lot of—you know like middle aged woman voice,” Sweeny told Uinterview in an exclusive video interview.
With a bestselling book just released If It’s Not One Thing It’s Your Mother, Sweeny won’t be appearing in a film for her next project. “And it’s actually a kind of big hit in England I guess so I’m going off to promote it,” she told Uinterview. “And then after that I have another book I’m going to write, so I’m mostly writing now.”
