Author and cat expert Jackson Galaxy believes firmly that confidence is key in cat’s lives – and wants to help cats get their mojo back. “Cat mojo is the ultimate level of confidence. Mojo, the word, is translatable to all species, and it’s about that inner state of confidence,” the author of Total Cat Mojo told uInterview in an exclusive video. “You know who you are, where you are, what you own, and it translates into every part of you, form the way you walk, the way you talk, the way you feel. And the job is to bring that mojo out of a cat.”

Galaxy, the host Animal Planet’s My Cat From Hell, understands that the cat species has evolved on it’s own over thousands of years, but hasn’t really changed aside from being domesticated. “The Raw Cat is the ancestral cat, the cat from tens of thousands of years ago, and there is a very straight line from the cat sitting in your lap to the cat sitting in the Fertile Crescent tens of thousands of years ago, they are the same animal,” he said.

In his book, he explains that keeping your cat in tune with its inner mojo is important to its well being. “They’ve evolved in a very organic way without humans messing with them all that much, so when I ask you to uncover mojo, what I’m asking you to do, is to allow your cat to communicate to their raw nature, and that’s what brings out mojo,” he said.

Nothing makes me happy like cuddling these two scrumptious adoptables from @bideawee Angus & Murray. They won’t be at @strandbookstore in a few hours…BUT I WILL!! Come on down – check the link in my bio for details. #totalcatmojo #mojoinmotion #teamcatmojo

One example of a way to uncover that mojo is to play with your pet. “I talk about this all the time,” Galaxy said, “but play, if you’re doing it right, is practice for the Raw Cat. It’s hunting, it’s allowing them to explore that part of their brain that is historical, that goes all the way back tens of thousands of years. They wake up in the morning and they need to hunt, so you provide them with it in a ritualized way. When you get up in the morning, before you go to bed at night, and your cat, again, they say, ‘this is who I am, this is what I’m on this planet to do, thank you very much, I am mojo-fied.'”
