Vladimir Putin’s $660 Million Super-Yacht ‘Scheherazade’ May Be Seized In Italy
A $660 million super-yacht named the Scheherazade reportedly owned by Vladimir Putin has been anchored in Marina di Carrara in Italy, and is excessively fitted out with multiple luxury touches. Italian authorities have been facing recent pressure to seize the yacht in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
People have been calling on the country to seize and sell the massive super-yacht to financially assist Ukrainians in their war efforts. A worker who helped with building the yacht told The Sun, “Every surface is marble or gold. There are countless swimming pools, a spa, a sauna, a theatre, ballrooms, a gym, two helipads. It’s like a mini-city.”
The worker added, “It is hard to swallow the fact that the most incredible ship in the world is owned by a man intent on bombing civilians in Ukraine.”
Along with all the marble and gold everywhere, just a few of the six-deck yacht’s many insanely luxurious amenities beyond what were already mentioned include a ballroom dance floor that lowers to become a pool, a nearly 15-foot long TV that spans an entire wall, and a self-leveling pool table. It also boasts a security system capable of shooting down drones and a hangar big enough to store a helicopter.
The yacht was first revealed to be linked to Putin when people connected to activist Alexei Navalny claimed that its crew members are members of Russian security services this past Monday. Navalny is currently incarcerated in a Russian prison after his February 2021 arrest and was sentenced to nine more years in jail yesterday.
