UFC Lightweight champion Conor McGregor may be cast in one of the next two seasons of HBO hit Game of Thrones.
After defeating Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205, the Dublin-born fighter decided to take time off from MMA to focus on the birth of his first child. His return date should be sometime around summer 2017, which gives him plenty of time for other things. According to a Belfast Live, one of the Game of Thrones directors is a big fan of McGregor’s, and thinks he would be a perfect fit.
In addition to McGregor’s brawn and accent, the popular show is filmed in Belfast, very close to where McGregor lives. “He was headhunted as it were by HBO, as one of the Game of Thrones directors is a huge UFC fan,” said the report. “They believed that he would be a perfect fit for the show.”
McGregor, the only person to hold world UFC titles in two weight classes at the same time, is also a bit of a hot-head. He gained flak earlier this year when he called wrestler John Cena fat, and mocked the WWE for being a bunch of “dweebs.” Another rumor surrounding the champion is that he will fight Floyd Mayweather, after being granted a boxing license in the state of California.
