Rapper Remy Ma, whose real name is Reminisce Smith, has turned herself into police custody after allegedly assaulting her Love & Hip Hop co-star Brittney Taylor during a benefit concert last month.

Taylor claims that Ma punched her in the face and that she sustained an injury to her right eye as a result of the incident.

Ma’s lawyer, Dawn Florio, denies the allegation against Ma and claims that Taylor is a liar. And while Florio does admit that Ma was at the benefit concert during the night of the incident, she says that Ma was at home nursing her infant at the time of the alleged incident.

“This arrest demonstrates how serious this matter is, it is real life and not reality TV entertainment,” Taylor’s lawyer, Sanford Rubenstein, said in a statement. “The victim Brittney Taylor has confidence in our system of justice and will continue to fully cooperate with the authorities.”

This isn’t Ma’s first run-in with the law. In 2007, Ma was convicted for shooting former friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the abdomen during a dispute. She was released in 2014.

Since the alleged incident, authorities have been trying to figure out whether Ma violated the conditions of her parole. If Ma violated her parole, she could face additional jail time or tighter parole conditions.
