Paige Spiranac Reacts To Being Body Shamed After Throwing Pitch At Brewer’s Game
On September 16, Paige Spiranac threw the first pitch at a Yankees-Brewers match.
After the event, Spiranac became a target for many people on social media.
“Not just body [shamed], but my appearance too, like my face and everything,” Spiranac said in a video explaining the extent of the harassment.
Spiranac, a golf influencer, was named 2022’s sexiest woman alive by Maxim.
“That is quite a title and I’ve felt a lot of pressure to live up to that title,” Spiranac said regarding Maxim’s choice.
Spiranac wore a tied white tank top, jeans and a Brewer’s jersey to the match, and although she received applause for her pitch there were some watchers who took to the internet to complain that she looked different from how she appears in front of a camera.
Spiranac explained her process of being photographed by discussing how she picks “the best pictures” and has “great lighting.”
“And so when you’re at a stadium that has severe overhead lighting, fluorescent overhead lighting, you’re just not going to look your best,” Spiranac continued.
This is not the first time that Spiranac has been attacked on social media for her appearance.
In an Instagram story clip from September, she called out that men who frequently insulted her weight on a specific photo she had posted of herself posing on a golf course.
“I know my body is a big part of my brand and that comes with a territory, but it’s hard to maintain my ideal weight all the time for year after year. I have to work very hard in the gym and with diet. It doesn’t come naturally to me. It can be defeating when people call out my body insecurities.”
Spiranac continued by explaining that she used to only want to “look good,” but now she works out to “feel good.”
In January 2021, Spiranac took to Twitter to reply to comments on her body image.
“It’s crazy I can be told I look too fat, too skinny, too plastic, too old, wearing too much makeup, not enough makeup, boobs too big, butt not big enough, too pale, hair too blonde, not blonde enough all in one day,” she said. “Guys it’s not a Build-a-Bear workshop over here. Calm it down.”
