The question of whether or not there will be a sequel to the 2005 hit movie Wedding Crashers still remains up in the air. Although there were rumors that production for the sequel was set to begin this summer for HBO Max, Owen Wilson has confirmed that the status of the film is very much still in the early stages.
“Some people are saying that you guys are going to be going in August, and that’s not right,” Wilson told Variety interview promoting his Marvel Studios’ Loki series streaming on Disney+.
Wilson instead noted that the director of the film David Dobkin, “has been talking with Vince [Vaughn]” for plans about a “different project,” but it has not gone further than talks thus far.
Many of the stars have said they would be on board for a sequel including Wilson, Vaughn, Rachel McAdams and Isla Fisher.

“If we all agree that we have a good idea, then we’re trying to make something good,” Wilson said of a potential sequel. “But it’s sort of figuring out what that idea would be and if we think we could do something worthwhile.”
Over the years there have been many teases for a sequel, including Dobkin answering a 2014 Quora post saying he and Wilson had thought of a “really really funny” storyline, involving James Bond star Daniel Craig as the “ultimate” wedding crasher.
