Tina Fey introduced Nicki Minaj on her return to Saturday Night Live for the 43rd season finale to perform her new hit “Chun-Li” for the first time on TV.
Minaj wore a sparkly black robe, a gold belt to outline her hourglass figure and two buns on her head to emphasize the Asian theme of the song and the stage, which featured traditional Chinese architecture.
The flashy background behind Minaj strongly reflected the graphic design of her music video for “Chun-Li.” The fog floating around the stage during the performance added to Minaj’s mystique.
Minaj discarded the robe and donned a patent leather outfit for the rest of the song, which was inspired by the “Street Fighter” character. With four ninja dancers behind her, Minaj successfully combined her fiery attitude and Chinese culture.

The crowd clearly fed into Minaj’s infectious energy after shouting, “New York make some noise!” after rapping the iconic line, “They need rappers like me… so they can get on their f—in’ keyboards and make me, the bad guy, Chun-Li.”
Again, Fey introduced Minaj for her second performance, which was in collaboration with Playboi Carti in his song “Poke it Out” off his new album Die Lit.

Minaj entered the stage with short blond hair and a bondage-style cutout dress to perform her verse of the track. Her typical New York tenacity helped deliver her sassy verse as images of the star flashed on the screens around the stage.
Minaj ended the performance by dancing on Playboi Carti and shouting out to her fans.
Minaj’s fourth album Queen will drop on June 15, which will finally give her Barbz an update since her 2014 album, The Pinkprint.
