Channing Tatum released the first trailer for the highly anticipated sequel Magic Mike XXL on The Ellen Show Wednesday.
Tatum, who both stars and serves as a producer on Magic Mike XXL, teased the trailer on Twitter Tuesday when he unveiled the official poster, writing, “Look, but you can’t touch…until tomorrow. Tune in to @theellenshow! #MagicMikeXXL.”
The trailer opens with Mike (Tatum) in his workshop in a bicep-baring tank top, and thrusting in time to the saw he’s wielding. Before long, he drops the power tools and whips out his best stripper moves. What follows are scenes of Mike and his fellow strippers in larger venues with more cash flowing than in the previous flick. After hours, the guys keep up their partying ways. “Nice to meet you, Magic, Magic Mike,” the titular character introduces himself to a female party guest before strutting off.
Near the end of the trailer, a title card reads, “You’re welcome.”
When Tatum was on Ellen, he revealed that professional dancer and the show’s DJ, Twitch, makes an appearance in Magic Mike XXL. “Spoiler alert: We do have a dance together,” said Tatum after commenting on Twitch’s impressive abs.
“There’s very little left to the imagine,” Tatum admitted when DeGeneres noted they wear thongs in the number.
When DeGeneres, who had Twitch waxed live on her show, asked Tatum if he’d waxed for the movie, he admitted that he did – but regretted it.
“I waxed last time and I promised myself I was not going to do it again. And then Matt Bomer goes, “Oh, no, you just didn’t have the right lady. She just wasn’t doing it right. And I went again and it sucked just as bad,” he said. “After they started, they said, ‘Oh no you’re a ginger’ – I have a little red in there – ‘It’s always the worse for them.’ I’m like, ‘Why didn’t you tell me this beforehand?’”
Magic Mike hits theaters July 1.
