Country singer LeAnn Rimes commemorated World Psoriasis Day on Thursday with a series of social media posts and and essay for Glamour.
“We’re worthy without the makeup and the artifice. We’re worthy of love without having to work for it,” Rimes says in her essay. “You know when you say something you’ve been holding in for so long, and it’s such a sigh of relief? That’s what these photos are to me. I needed this.”
Later on Thursday, Rimes also thanked and encouraged fans, particularly those who also have psoriasis, on her Instagram story.
“Know that you’re not alone,” Rimes said. “I wanted to share in our humanness. So just know that you are loved, and you are worthy, as I tell myself the same thing over and over again. Just thank you for the love.”
Though there were negative responses to the photos, Rimes’ message resonated with fans that shared her condition and wanted other to better understand what they were going through.
