Johnny Depp as well as director David Yates will both be returning for the sequel to this year’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Depp will have a cameo in the first installment of the Warner Bros. franchise, which is due out Nov. 18. His role has not been announced, so audiences will have to keep their eyes peeled.
At a fan event in October, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling revealed that she has already written the plots for five films in the Fantastic Beasts franchise.
Depp, who has always played somewhat fantastical roles his whole career, from Edward Scissorhands to Captain Jack Sparrow, seems perfectly slated for a role in the magical films. His most recent character was the Mad Hatter in Alice Through the Looking Glass, and he will also reprise his role in the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
Eddie Redmayne stars in the upcoming Harry Potter spinoff prequel, which is set in 1930s American and follows the actor as magizoologist Newt Scamander, who accidentally loses all the magical creatures he was carrying in his expanding briefcase. See the trailer below.
