Josh Lucas Attends World Premiere Of 'The Mend' Then Hits Afterparty

The Mend, a new film from director John Magary and starring Josh Lucas, premiered Sunday night at SXSW as part of the Narrative Film Competition, and Lucas and the rest of the cast including Mickey Sumner and Stephen Plunkett attended a intimate after-party at Supper Suite By STK hosted by Blue Moon Brewing Co. Up-and-coming recording artist Olivia Somerlyn entertained guests with a performance.

The Mend marks Magary’s feature directorial debut, he has previously written and directed three short films: Site in Fishkill Creek, Our National Parks and The Second Line, which won a special jury award at 2008’s SXSW Film Festival.

The film follows brothers Mat (Lucas) and Alan (Plunkett). Mat, a drifter, interrupts Alan’s life unannounced and causes havoc on Alan’s apartment when Alan takes off for a vacation with his girlfriend, Farrah (Sumner). Alan returns early, without Farrah, to find Mat living in his apartment with his girlfriend and his girlfriend’s son.

It seems that Alan and Mat also have unresolved issues with their father. The clip shows a small gathering at Alan’s apartment, where their uncle (Austin Pendleton) is telling stories about their father.
