Oscars 2013: What Time Is It? Where To Watch, What To Expect
The 85th Academy Awards will air live on Sunday, Feb. 24 on ABC. Host Seth MacFarlane will be kicking off the ceremony at 7pm ET/4 PT. Red Carpet coverage will be featured on both E! and the TV Guide Channel as the stars make their way into the Dolby Theater at the Hollywood Highland Center.
While Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln leads the pack with 12 nominations and was considered an early favorite for the award for best picture, Ben Affleck’s Argo has been picking up steam throughout awards season. Behind Lincoln in nominations, is Ang Lee's Life of Pi with 11. The visually stunning film about a resilient shipwrecked boy and his Bengali tiger, unexpectedly came out ahead of Les Miserables and Zero Dark Thirty. While independent hit Beasts of the Southern is unlikely to take home best picture, its young starlet Quvenzshane Wallis could become the youngest actor to win an Oscar for her leading role performance. Meanwhile, Amour remains the favorite in the foreign film category.
The star-studded event will be honoring song as well as film throughout the night. Along with performances by the cast of the Oscar-nominated Les Miserables and the cast of the 2002 film adaptation of Chicago, Barbra Streisand and Adele will also take the stage to sing. The Oscars will also close with a musical number by host MacFarlane and Broadway veteran Kristin Chenoweth.
